Visiting the Tramsheds @ Harold Park Dine out

I was wandering along King St, Newtown while Stu had his haircut and I bought a scrap of  Japanese cotton in a super cute floral pattern. I was planning to turn into a shirt but it’s a smidge not wide enough… so yet another paper bag elastic waist skirt it is. (I really need to teach myself how to sew a zip so I can expand my repetoire). Anyway, this is a post about food not sewing! Even though we had a snack before departure I was pretty hungry by the time we drove all the narrow back streets (thanks no thanks...

BBQ cajun chicken Dine in

The weather is finally warming in Sydney (most days anyway..!) so it’s finally time to get back into BBQ dinners. We live in a townhouse beside a heritage listed house which has been turned into 4 flats. I often feel sorry for my neighbours when I’m outside cooking on the BBQ because I’m quite sure all the smells are headed straight for their living rooms. 6 ingredient lemon pasta Dine in

Yes… I present to you a pile of plain looking pasta sitting in a fancy bowl. Doesn’t look like much! But! Bear with me… this is a super simple and super delicious bowl of pasta and I’m sure you would already have most of the ingredients in your fridge. Pasta, lemon, cream, salt, pepper, parmesan. You will too! Ingredients 250g pasta (you choose, I use...

Sambal roasted salmon parcels Dine in

The perils of shopping online. Most of the time I don’t mind giving control to my “personal shopper” and I’m happy to get what I’m given instead of wrestling wonky shopping trolleys in the supermarket with a scowl on my face. Today though, bit annoyed. I purchased two pieces of salmon. Clearly my “personal shopper” had a bit of a dilemma in the deli. “Does Sally want mid section or tail? Not sure. I’ll hedge my bets and give her one of each.” Dinner tonight is going to be two flavoursome pieces of salmon, one over and one under cooked. Oh...

Spiced apple cake with caramel drizzle Dine in

I’m back! Sorry for the delay. Lately, cooking for me has been of necessity and not so much pleasure but I will get back into the swing of things soon, I promise. I have been sitting on this cake for a while now. Actually, to be more accurate, pulling a slice from the freezer and defrosting it in the microwave and eating it with a contented sigh. This cake is good eaten while on the couch, and also in the great outdoors where two frozen slices were stashed in a backpack to be enjoyed at the halfway point of a...
