A few days on Waiheke Island Travel

Waiheke Island is a short 30 minute ferry ride from Auckland harbour, and it’s the playground for Aucklanders for good reason. Stunning rolling hills, beautiful bays and delicious food and wine, it’s quite a place! The beauty of the island is well known, with hundreds of visitors arriving every weekend for day trips, weddings and holidays. Don’t let that put you off, there is a lot to explore and we often found ourselves the only ones on a beach, on a bay, or admiring a view. You just need to pick your time and go! Spinach cob loaf dip Dine in

This recipe is a stand out crowd pleaser. One of the reasons I love cooking is seeing the joy on someone’s face when they eat and enjoy something I have made. Satay chicken and vegetable stirfry Dine in

We were counting down the days to our trip to Vanuatu so I was in operation Fridge Clean Out mode and eating what we had so nothing went to waste. Ode to satay sauce Dine in

This post (and one to come) are an ode to satay sauce. Specifically Ayam brand satay sauce. It’s delicious and I highly recommend you seek it out from your local Asian grocer (I can’t usually find it in the supermarket) and keep it as a cupboard staple. Today’s dish is Indonesian gado gado, a room temperature salad made with a variety of  lightly steamed vegetables alongside the necessary boiled egg, sambal and prawn crackers. The simplicity of the salad is the secret, along with a very decent satay sauce (you can make your own with this recipe if you’re keen!)...

Beautiful WA Travel

I have been to Perth several times for work but it doesn’t really count… from store to hotel and back again, I really didn’t see much to be able to say “I’ve been to Perth”. Friends of ours were getting married and Stuart’s sister and her husband live in Perth too so it was the perfect excuse to take some time off work and see a bit of WA. With a flight around 5 hours from Sydney, you need to stay a few days to make the trip worthwhile anyway! We flew in after work on Friday (business class upgrade!...
